Management Opportunity with the Healthpoint Group - Pharmacist-in-Charge

A Pharmacist Managerial position is now available on Queensland's mid-north coast with our progressive pharmacy group.

You will be located on Queensland's mid-north coast in a beautiful suburban area with an attractive salary. Our pharmacy group operates five community pharmacies and a private hospital pharmacy in Mackay, North Queensland.

Job Description

Main Purpose…

Your main purpose will be to provide excellent pharmaceutical advice and counseling to all customers, especially to those obtaining prescription medications. You will supervise and control the functions of the pharmacy and the dispensary in a professional, efficient and systematic manner.

Outline…

As the Pharmacist-In-Charge, you will manage and be involved in the dispensary, counseling and ordering, as well as normal duties. This position involves a 38 - 42 hours per week to include night and weekend work.

If successful, you will earn an attractive negotiable hourly rate and will be assisted with relocation expenses.

This position requires you to work in conjunction with seven other pharmacists in a group practice consisting of six pharmacies. These include a large and modern extended-hours pharmacy, medical centre pharmacies, busy surgeries and a newly established pharmacy in a neighbourhood shopping centre in a growing suburban area.

You can also become involved in clinical duties as a pharmacist in our private hospital pharmacy, which currently services 110 beds.

We support further education for our pharmacists via Amfac courses and accreditations in HMR courses.

Duties…

To dispense prescriptions and counsel customers using the patient-counseling program when needed
To become involved in proper patient counseling of dispensed scripts
To ensure the efficient and disciplined operation of the dispensary and its workflow procedures by adhering to the systems in place, and ensuring cleanliness and tidiness in the workplace at all times
To assist customers at the dispensary and back counters, and to provide comprehensive advice on their dispensed medications and OTC medications
To oversee an accurate and correct PBS claim twice per month and conduct basic computer housekeeping to maintain the daily computer functions as well as the HIC claim
To maintain and control stock levels in the dispensary
To work in conjunction with other employed pharmacists to prepare and supervise the packaging and supply of Webster unit dose medications to community patients.
To work with, supervise, and act as preceptor to pre-registration students, university students and dispensary assistants
To work in conjunction with Home health care staff to provide asthma and diabetic advice and instruction, and to be involved with Diabetes Australia
As the senior person in charge, to supervise control and direct staff to ensure the efficient and safe functioning of the pharmacy
