Diet & Weightloss

Diet is a nasty word

How many of you can honestly say you have never been on a "diet"? How many can say it worked?

Most people fail to lose weight and keep it off because they diet.

Losing weight is a lifestyle, not about dieting. A lifestyle that incorporates fresh wholesome food and daily exercise is the key to losing weight. Make small changes and as you grasp every new healthy habit, move onto the next challenge. Treat yourself for your achievements (not just with food!) and remember everything in moderation.

Weightloss Tip

Drink a glass of warm water with fresh lemon juice before meals.

It will improve your digestion, helping you to get more from your meal.

Eat small regular meals (about 5-6 per day). This boosts your metabolism and keeps your blood sugar levels stable, so you don't crave the naughty stuff!

Read food labels. Don't get sucked into low fat products, you may find they are actually quite high in sugar. Low sugar products generally contain artificial sweeteners so avoid these and choose a piece of fruit instead.

Snack on raw unsalted nuts. They are a great source of protein and keep you feeling full for longer. Drink a glass of warm water with fresh lemon juice before meals. It will improve your digestion, helping you to get more from your meal.Decrease your portion size. Trick your brain by using side plates for your main meals.

Throw away your scales! The age old saying "muscle weighs more than fat" is spot on. With all of your healthy eating and exercise you should be burning fat and gaining muscle. Use waist measurements and the fit of your clothes as your indication.

Exercise regularly and get into a routine. A lack of time is no excuse for a lack of exercise. Whether it is 15 minutes of lunges and sit-ups in your back yard to a 45 minute walk, every bit counts.
